Blog Tour: Prosecco and Promises ~ A L Michael*

It was lovely to see the sun shining here in Wales yesterday, it is a welcome changed to the stormy weather we have been having.  We hit 24k Instagram followers this week, a very big thank you to all our followers.  This month has been a reading month, curled up in a chair by a warm fire with a good book.  No better way to see January through.  I am on my fifth book already this year, and my reading challenge is going well.

We love working with publishers and authors and always welcome proof copies of books in return for an open and honest review.  Today we are hosting the blog tour for “If I Fall” by Ella Harper, we loved this book – and it caused us “book sleep deprivation” but was well worth it.  Once you start reading this, you cannot stop.

Prosecco and Promises

by A L Michael

Meet Mia: An unforgettable heroine learning the meaning of life and love on a beautiful Italian island.

Perfect for fans of Mhairi McFarlane, Lindsey Kelk and Lucy Vine. Mia’s dad has always been her idol. Now, she faces losing him and he is insisting that she leave England to visit her mother’s family on the Italian island of Ischia. Arriving on the island, Mia is embraced by the warm, crazy relatives she hardly knows. Despite her doubts about the trip, it is in Italy that Mia discovers connections to a part of her life that’s been missing, and during the sun-soaked days and steamy nights Mia falls for handsome local Salvatore. But as the day of her departure draws nearer can she risk having her heart broken twice in one summer?

Our Review

A story of family, friendships, love and grief, that will break and warm the heart.  An enjoyable read that will make you smile and will touch your heart. A story that is captivating and has great depth to it.  Once you start reading you will not be able to stop.

Mia spends most of her time on Ischia, if you love Italy you will love the descriptions of the scenery, food and Italian culture.  Whilst reading, I felt like I was sat watching the characters rather than reading.

You may wonder why Mia is in Italy, her father is dying of cancer, his wish for her is not to be there at the end of his life, to see him suffer.  Instead, he wants Mia to visit Ischia and spend time with her mothers family, returning only when he has passed away and leaving her father in the care of her step mother Majorie.

Mia meets her grandmother, aunt and cousins and stays with them.  Her grandmother is hostile towards her and we later learn this is due to her losing her daughter (Mia’s Mother) to her father when they married and moved away from Ischia.  No spoilers, but it’s a watch this space with their relationship.  Mia spends time with her aunt cooking Italian food and learning of her mother.

It’s not long before Mia discovers an antique shop, she remembers visiting with her father.   She meets Antonio (shop owner) and Salvatore (Antonio’s grandson) who is back from the USA.  There are two sides to Salvatore, an abrasive rude edge, and underneath someone who is very different.  Mia spends time with them both and friendships are kindled.  Love and friendship based on the small thoughtful gestures.  No Spoilers so moving along swiftly.

Mia helps out with the shop, she has a deep passion for history and sorting the shop and its artefacts bring her great pleasure.  Until, her return to UK when her father dies, where Mia learns more of her step mother and their relationship develops further.
